David Von Drehle
This week marks the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in New York City. David Von Drehle, author of TRIANGLE: The Fire that Changed America, will be participating in events this week in New York City but has also been doing a great deal of National media. This week, The New York Times has been doing extensive coverage of the event, in both the paper and their online City Room blog, using details from Von Drehle’s acclaimed book. David’s TIME Magazine piece on the fire will run in next week’s issue on stands this Friday.
CNN.com refers to David Von Drehle’s TRIANGLE “as a definitive account of those times” and also uses Drehle’s description of the Triangle factory owners for their March 22nd article on the fire. Similar acclaim and reference to TRIANGLE can also be found in Harold Meyerson’s Washington Post column. A Q&A with David Von Drehle is now on the Christian Science Monitor book blog.
On top of the print coverage this week, Von Drehle has been interviewed for numerous NPR shows, including All Things Considered and Weekend Edition. He will also appear on WNYC’s On the Media this Friday. And don’t forget, HBO’s documentary Triangle: Remembering the Fire premiered March 21st at 9:00 pm and will continue to run this week through the first week in June!
