Here’s an upcoming board book packed with interesting visuals and a lot of information. 1, 2, 3, Sí!: A Numbers Book in English and Spanish approaches the counting book from an artistic perspective. Children have a chance to closely examine images from the collection at the San Antonio Museum of Art in both English and Spanish. There are masks and paintings, hand painted instruments and earthenware sculptures; a fantastic array of colorful things to look at. The spreads are accompanied by interactive prompts for readers to inspect the art further, such as “Can you find the birds?” or “Which mask would you like to try on?”
“Perceptive readers will likely be drawn toward the diverse images and media…” says Publishers Weekly in this August 1st review. Even though the art featured in 1, 2, 3, Sí! is from one particular museum, this book will be enjoyed by curious readers all over. We hope to see more of these gems from Trinity University Press and the San Antonio Museum of Art in the future.
